Filing Dates: Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 8:00am - Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 5:00pm
Filing for the following offices will take place in the office of the Honorable John R. Ashcroft, Missouri Secretary of State, in the James C. Kirkpatrick State Information Center at 600 West Main Street in Jefferson City, Missouri:
U.S. Senator
Governor
Lieutenant Governor
Secretary of State
State Treasurer
Attorney General
Representatives in Congress for each Congressional District
State Senator for Seventeenth District
State Senator for Twenty-first District
Members of the House of Representatives in each Legislative District
Filing for the following offices will take place in the office of the Clay County Board of Election Commissioners, 100 West Mississippi Street, Liberty, Missouri:
Eastern County Commissioner at Large
Eastern County Commissioner Seat 1
Western County Commissioner at Large
Western County Commissioner Seat 1
Sheriff
Assessor
Declarations of candidacy may be filed for the following political officers who are to be elected at the Primary Election for each Committee District in Clay County.
Committeeman
Committeewoman
In addition, such offices as they become vacant by expiration of term, by death or resignation of incumbent or vacant for any cause, and which under the law, should be filed at the General Election to be held November 5, 2024.
Documents/items required in order to file for County office:
1. Election officials shall require proof of identity of persons when filing declarations of Candidacy in person and when filing by mail as provided in subsection 2 or 5 of this section. RSMO 115.355 (4). Please have voter registration card with you.
2. Each potential candidate for election to a public office shall file an affidavit with the department of revenue Form 5120 and include a copy of the affidavit with the declaration of candidacy required under section 115.349. RSMO 115.342 (2). The Election Authority will have these forms available when you file in person, or you can obtain this form from the Department of Revenue or the DOR Website.

Ballot Placement:
Candidates who file on the first day by 5:00 p.m. will select a number by random drawing. The random number drawn determines the candidate’s primary ballot placement. After the first day, candidates are placed on the ballot in the order of their filing. (Section 115.395, RSMo.)

Voter Lists:
To request a voter list please complete the Candidate Voter List Request Form below, print and sign the request and email it to comments@voteclaycountymo.gov. RSMo 115.158.6 Voter lists shall not be used for commercial purposes, the information may be used for elections, candidates, or for ballot measures, furnished at a reasonable fee. Violation of this section shall be a class B misdemeanor.
